Merry Christmas!
As I write this post, I am curled up in my bed anxiously waiting
for the joy of Christmas morning. I am so excited to spend the morning
unwrapping gifts and watching the joy my family and I share together. As I grow
older, I value more and more these special moments with my family and I find
myself becoming less focused on presents. Seeing my younger sister still so
excited for Santa to visit and setting out cookies for him makes me thrilled
for her. She puts so much thought into her carefully written letter each year
and debates what cookies Santa will like the best. The magic of Christmas is
fun to see, especially in those that still "believe".
Tonight, my family and I went to church. It felt so good to
be at home and the church I love so much. It was a wonderful hour, filled with
joy and rejuvenation. Each year, we light candles and sing Silent Night; it is
most definitely one of my favorite three minutes of Christmastime. Our pastor
began speaking about how Jesus came down to be with us, to forgive us, and to
allow us the opportunity to live a life for Him. We are the light to the world,
through our Lord. I thought that was pretty neat.
I wanted to share my outfit of the night, because I was
really excited to wear it. I am wearing a skirt I made--formulated after the J.
Crew style skirt that is so popular on Pinterest. It is a heathered grey color
and I think it is absolutely perfect for the winter time!
{I love this skirt so much! It was ridiculously easy to make and WAY cheaper than the J. Crew version. Perfect for my college budget. I have probably made five or six of these skirts!!!}
I paired it with my favorite J. Crew button down oxford with
jewels on it. I thought it was perfectly festive and I love this shirt to
pieces. Definitely worth the investment!
{A full view of my OOTN. I match the presents under the tree!}
My maroon tights are another favorite of mine; they are from
Target. Lastly, I am wearing black riding boots from Target as well, and my
Michael Kors watch. My lipstain is from Wet n Wild -- I highly reccomend their
lip products! So cheap but insanely vibrant.
I hope this Christmas time brings you joy, happiness and
peace; I know I have found all of that this year in Christ. He sent his Son to
be our Savior and give us life. Every year I find myself feeling less excited
for Christmas like I use to as a kid; I no longer wait all year to rip open all
the sparkly packages under the tree. Instead, I find myself realizing that I
don't neccsiarily long for the suspense of what is under the tree. Don't get me
wrong--I love Christmas and presents. But I think now, I value so much more the
true meaning of Christmas. I am thankful for my Savior and what this holiday
season truly means.
"For unto us a child is born, to us a Son is given. And
the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." {Isaiah 9:6}
Merry Christmas and until next time...
Xoxo,
Kenzie
