I want you to live forever, underneath the sky so blue.

If you've never heard of Drew and Ellie Holcomb, you're missing out.

Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to hear these two perform not once, but twice.

They came to K-state for an event called After Dark, designed to give music and a message about Christ to college students.

It also happened  that the YoungLife area director here in Manhattan and his family are good friends of the Holcomb's.

We were able to share a little bit of time in the afternoon with the Holcombs, hearing stories and they sang a few songs and prayed over all the YoungLife leaders and encouraged us with what we were doing here in Manhattan.

Then I got to hear them sing a second time at the actual event, which was so amazing. It was so cool to see just how joyful Ellie was for the Lord and to see Christ radiating from their relationship and both Drew and Ellie individually.

During the actual concert portion, Ellie shared a verse that really impacted me.

"...as a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9

This verse just reminded me of God's infinite love and in that moment I was feeling the spirit of the Lord fill me up. I was reminded how God brought me from a life of darkness -- filled with insecurity, need for control, and wordly living. I was brought to the light, a life filled still with sin but I now have a Savior that I can take every burden I ever have to Him.

My heart has been feeling a bit heavy lately -- certain relationships dragging me down, the stress of school, feelings of anxiety -- and last night I just gave them up to the Lord.

It was so refreshing to feel my worries gone. I had been hanging onto these burdens for so long, and God wants for us to surrender our burdens to Him. He can help us carry them, because we can't carry them alone.

I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to attend this wonderful event and be encouraged by so many wonderful people yesterday. I am lucky to experience so many amazing things and thankful for the Lord showing Himself through these wonderful people.

Until next time, friends!
xoxo,
Kenzie
